Washington University Metabolomics Facility
The Washington University Metabolomics Facility is a CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment) certified laboratory. We use state-of-the-art gas and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry to develop new metabolomics methods and provide high quality, affordable service. We offer scientific expertise in qualitative and quantitative metabolomics to research communities in academics and industry.
• Targeted metabolomics: Targeted metabolomics focuses on the analysis of a group of predefined metabolites either related to a specific metabolic pathway or a class of compounds (e.g., for biomarker discovery). Below are the classes of metabolites we routinely analyze in our core. (Click here or below for a complete listing of metabolites and related species.)
Targeted analysis of additional small molecules is available upon request.
• Pharmacokinetics (PK) and Pharmacodynamics (PD) Studies: To support PK/PD studies, we develop and validate quantitative methods for the determination of concentration of pharmaceutical compounds in biological samples according to the FDA bioanalytical method validation guidance and for biomarker measurement based on the principles of fit-for-purpose validation.
• Bioanalytical Method Development and Validation: To support development of analytics for pre-clinical studies, clinical trials and biomarker validation, we develop and validate quantitative methods for the determination of concentration of pharmaceutical compounds in biological samples according to the FDA bioanalytical method validation guidance and for biomarker measurement based on the principles of fit-for-purpose validation. We also assist investigators in development of CLIA-compliant clinical laboratory tests.
• Pre-clinical and Clinical Sample Analysis: To support pre-clinical studies and clinical trials we provide GLP-compliant bioanalysis for drugs and metabolites from a wide variety of biological matrices. Our laboratory has the capacity to analyze thousands of samples per week. High throughput is made possible with LC-MS/MS instruments and automated sample preparation technology.
